Skin Care for Men
| Perhaps you
noticed that avalanche of makeup and "stuff" in your girlfriend's
bathroom, makeup bag, wherever. It's mind-boggling isn't it? Here's a simple 5 step guide to keeping your skin looking great whilst keeping sanity. 1. Choose thy cleanser wisely: Many men make the mistake of thinking regular bar soaps and cleansers are sufficient for facial cleansing. However, the skin on your face and the skin on your body are very different. Regular soaps strip oils, which can lead to dry skin on your face. Use a facial cleanser to get rid of the grime, it's gentler and formulated for the more delicate facial skin. 2. Exfoliate: Lets face it: skin cells die and need to be sloughed off sometimes. Most dermatologists recommend exfoliating 2 to 3x a week. This encourages new cell growth, minimizes fine lines and wrinkles, and makes shaving easier. 3. Degrease: Feeling a little greasy even after washing thy face with said MAN FACE CLEANSER? Toner will remove any leftover residue. Not necessary but nice if oil is a problem. 4. Cardinal rule of graceful aging and whatnot: Your mother probably said this, maybe even a girlfriend, but it's true. Apply sunscreen. You don't have to reach for the Baby Block SPF 50, SPF 15 is a good minimum. (see below) 5. Moisturize like you mean it: If your skin is dry naturally or if you just want to sooth post-shaven skin, use a light, gentle moisturizer to keep your skin supple and elastic. As per above, many moisturizers contain sunblock to protect your skin. |
